On your 8½ birthday, we’d love you to have a party: invite your friends; watch a movie and, together,
take a ride on a magic carpet to faraway lands.
You’ve probably seen films like Toy Story and Shrek. We love them too, but here are some less well known films
we think are fantastic.
Like Willy Wonka’s sweets, the films you’ll find here are all very different and surprising. Some might blow the top of your
head off; some might make you turn purple (no, not really); some you will love; some might make you go ugh. But until you try
them, you’ll never know...

We are delighted to announce that Jane Campion, Sharmila Tagore and recent Palme d’Or winner, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, have joined the group of committed and enthusiastic UK-based film industry professionals who make up our Advisory Board: Will Clarke, Adam Dawtrey, Andrew Macdonald, Tanya Seghatchian and Jane Wright. We thank them all for their support.
We think these films are so great that we want to give some of them away for free, as 8½ birthday presents,
to a few lucky children in a few special Scottish places. We are setting up around 10 local hubs to help us do this.
So if you are a school or community group anywhere in Scotland, and you would like to get involved...
